Online Associates of Applied Science in Allied Health

GMC’s online Allied Health Associates degree program gives students career options. This degree can get your foot in the door for entry-level employment in a health career, enhance your advancement opportunities in a healthcare job you already have, or provide a stepping stone for continued education in GMC’s Bachelor of Applied Science in Healthcare Management. GMC’s Associates degrees facilitate easy transfer of college credits to four-year colleges and universities.

Employment of medical and health services managers is projected to grow 32% from 2019 to 2029*, much faster than the average for all occupations. Entry-level allied health positions are often found in facilities such as hospitals, physicians’ offices, dental offices, chiropractic offices, insurance companies, outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities, and rehabilitation centers.

The Associate of Applied Science in Allied Health Science (AAS) degree program is designed to prepare students for entry positions in health careers or supporting roles. Students may complete this healthcare degree online or in person at one of our seven campuses. This online Allied health program includes liberal arts education in general studies and a focus on the biological sciences. Students will demonstrate skills in critical thinking, problem solving, and contemporary issues related to healthcare.

Online Bachelors of Applied Science in Healthcare Management

The Bachelor of Applied Science in Healthcare Management degree program is designed to prepare students for careers in healthcare management and related fields.  Students who have earned an Associate of Applied Science degree will have the opportunity to continue their education and prepare for advancement opportunities within their healthcare field of study.  The curriculum includes courses that will provide a solid understanding of healthcare management for today’s healthcare industry environment.  The program is designed to aid and develop the potential of our graduates to be successful in the field of healthcare management. Students enrolling in this degree program must have a healthcare-related AAS degree.

What You Will Learn

Students will demonstrate fundamental healthcare management concepts applied in public health principles and concepts within managing health communities and healthcare services.

Students will analyze economic and financial factors and policies that are used in the managerial decision-making process in health care services and programs.

Students will apply critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills needed to develop and manage health care services and programs.

Online Associates in Biology

Biology is the study of living organisms. GMC’s online Biology program prepares students for baccalaureate degree work in biology at most four-year institutions by developing skills in analysis, critical thinking, project design and completion, as well as scientific writing. GMC’s Associates degree programs are designed with easy transfer of credits to universities in mind.

GMC’s online accredited Biology degree provides a solid background for students whose goals include teaching biology or conducting research in biology or medicine. Students with this degree are prepared to become laboratory assistants; completion of the AS in Biology will prepare the student for a career in biological science or other science related field.

Online Associates in Pre-Nursing

GMC’s online Associates Pre-Nursing program provides students a liberal arts-based program of study through a foundation in Biology. Online degree completion of the Associates in Pre-Nursing program provides many of the pre-requisites needed for admission, and the easy transfer of college credits, to a nursing program. GMC’s Global Online Leadership College is SACSCOC accredited and has articulation agreements in place with nursing schools throughout the Southeast. 

GMC’s Pre-Nursing Program emphasizes a holistic approach to character education and critical thinking. Students with GMC’s Associates in Pre-Nursing degree are well prepared for admission to Registered Nursing (R.N.) programs throughout the state of Georgia and the Southeast. This program prepares students for completion of two-year Associate of Science in Nursing (A.S.N.) programs, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) programs at four-year institutions, and R.N. bridge programs at participating institutions.

Online Associates in Kinesiology

Kinesiology is the scientific study of human or non-human body movement. Kinesiology addresses physiological, biomechanical, and psychological dynamic principles and mechanisms of movement.

GMC’s online Associates in Kinesiology program prepares students for baccalaureate degree work in Kinesiology/Exercise Science at most four-year institutions with comprehensive basic knowledge of this field. This includes study of anatomy and physiology, energy systems and bioenergetics, biomechanics, planes of motion, muscular contractions, exercise selection and testing, program design, injury identification and rehabilitation protocols, and coach/athlete interactions. 

Online degree completion of GMC’s online Kinesiology program prepares students to immediately become personal trainers or fitness instructors. Students who go on to complete a four-year degree in Kinesiology or Exercise Science will be prepared for a career in human health and wellness. A GMC Associates degree in Kinesiology, designed for easy transfer of college credits, coupled with further education, is a career foundation for Athletic Trainers, Strength and Conditioning Coaches, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Sport Psychologists, Exercise Physiologists, Corporate Wellness Directors, and some College Professors.

What You Will Learn

Students who complete this program will demonstrate an understanding of musculoskeletal anatomy and basic biomechanical principles.

Students who complete this program will demonstrate knowledge of energy systems and bioenergetics including metabolic regulation and adaptations to exercise.

Students who complete this program will be able to interpret fitness/testing data to minimize risk for injury/illness and formulate strategies to mitigate injury/illness risks.

Students who complete this program will be able to design and organize health and fitness programs for a variety of populations, including apparently health individuals, athletic populations, and/or other special populations.
