The Communication program prepares students for a baccalaureate degree in communication at most four-year institutions by giving students a solid foundation in public speaking, communication skills, and communication theory, as well as a thorough understanding and analysis of the history and current trends in the communication marketplace. This course is designed to provide extensive practice in preparing and presenting effective public speeches. Special emphasis is devoted to organization, outlining, audience analysis, analytical reasoning, and delivery skills.
This course provides students the skills necessary to become better communicators. This course is a study in the theories and practices of communication in two person or small group settings. Primary emphasis is placed on understanding verbal and non-verbal communication and the cultural context in which this communication occurs.
This course provides an overview of the four disciplines within the communication field (interpersonal, small group, public speaking and mass communication,) and how to apply the various theories within these disciplines.
